Green practices in floral design simply means
using products (flowers) and practices that are mindful of the
environment and human health. At Botanical Design Studio we incorporate green
practices into our daily lives by recycling and using
environmentally friendly products to help reduce our carbon
footprint.
There are a number of different things you can do to incorporate
green practices into your flowers. For example, you can choose flowers
that have labels such as VeriFlora that guarantees growers use
environmentally and socially responsible growing methods to produce
blooms we love. Or incorporate locally grown flowers which will
support local communities. At Botanical Design Studio we have
excellent relationships with local growers that allow us to
hand-pick only the best blooms. Another example is to choose floral
containers crafted from materials that can be recycled such as glass
and metal. Or go vintage, it's romantic and in style. You may want
to use some or all of the examples above or come up with your own
eco-friendly idea. Every bit (small or large) makes a difference for
a healthier earth and
reduces our carbon footprint.
Using green practices is the trend and future in floral designs. More customers want earth and health-friendly
options available today. Because of demand and our own beliefs, we
support green practices and products. One of our
commitments to green practices is to give clients rebates for
returning glass vases which can be recycled and re-used.
We
continue to look for ways to incorporate more green practices into Botanical Design Studio. If you have
ideas or suggestions we would love to hear from you.
